Her Sky Paintings serve as distillations of romantically sublime environments and interact with thematic material such as the sky, the sea, a forest or a mountain. Their origin is rooted in a sustained period of time the artist spent in the Mojave Desert in California, applying numerous layers on to raw canvas to achieve the ethereal effect.
Working with carefully applied layers of oil paint, each scene of Wildflowers, Night explores the expressive capacity of a restrictive palette at a constrained scale. Partridge achieves a cinematic sensibility, rich with tone and atmosphere. Upon close observation, viewers can discern delicate French lilac flowers, fine branches and soft olive-green pastel stalks with paintings that meld an exuberant exterior world with energetic interior consciousness.
