Jasmine Little (1984 - 2026) was born in Portsmouth, VA and lived and worked in Los Angeles, CA until her passing. She studied at Copper Mountain College, Joshua Tree, CA, the University of California, Los Angeles, CA and Adam State University, Alamosa, CO.
Bodily, eccentric and imposing, the physicality of her sculptures prompts viewers to trace detailed and nuanced intricacies that pay homage to storytelling and antiquity. With scenes that map out both personal and collective memory and passages of time, viewers engage with contemporary issues of gender, religion, myth-making and identity. In her oil paintings spanning monumental scale she used traditional materials and classical floral imagery to reimagine the overarching narrative of visceral human experience.
The artist completed recent residencies at The CSULB Center for Contemporary Ceramics (CCC) in Long Beach, California and exhibited internationally including exhibitions at Foundation Thalie, Night Gallery, Los Angeles; Nina Johnson, Miami and Deitch Projects, New York. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, Perez Art Museum, Detroit Museum of Art and the Nevada Museum of Art.
