La Loma Projects is delighted to present DUET, a special online exhibition of works by New York-based artist Renée Estée (b. 1993), opening April 4, 2024.

Renée Estée’s paintings are, in a word, magic. They don’t hold literal meaning; they suggest memories–real or imagined–that emerge and recede from legibility. Across this evocative suite of paintings, we see a dance of primordial emotion and sensory experience.

As viewers, we observe how her painterly representation of the natural world draws inspiration from life in Australia, where she was born, with lush and gestural applications of deep red, midnight blue and gold mica. Her free brushstrokes create a vivid dialogue, reminding of far-away landscapes, horizons and desert night skies, a romance about the passage of time.
